Bateman Hosegood Ltd

Two sales in 72 hours

Bateman Hosegood were busy over the weekend of the 6th – 8th October conducting two sales in 72 hours in West Somerset.

On Friday the 6th October they conducted the retirement sale on behalf of W J A Burnell and Son which was extremely well attended by locals and farmers from afar. With over 600 lots on offer and the larger items of machinery being online the sale went very well considering the current economic downturn being experienced by all.

Richard and Chris Burnell have chosen to retire from farming following the decision by The Landlords to try and develop various parts of the holding. Richard was born on the farm in 1948 and is well known to everybody in the area and further afield as an exceptional farmer, who has been innovative and forward thinking throughout his career. We at Bateman Hosegood would like to thank Richard and Chris and wish them well in their retirement and we are sure that they will be very much involved in the community going forward.

On Sunday the 8th October, only two days later, Bateman Hosegood were pleased to conduct the Quantock Pony Fair with ponies, horses, chickens, machinery, tools, and sundries on offer. The sale was extremely well attended with additional car parking being found during the morning, and the caterers having to restock four times during the day to keep everybody well fed and nourished. Bateman Hosegood would like to thank the Gibbons family, the Quantock Staghounds, and the Quantock Pony Breeders for their support in putting on the event which as ever was a fantastic social occasion for all.  It was great to see, as so many other pony fairs have had to cease holding sales over recent years.

Bateman Hosegood have a full team to support your sale needs and go that extra mile to offer a personal service understanding that for many it is the biggest event in a farmer’s life.
