Kevin Bateman

Kevin is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and a member of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants. Kevin specialises in a number of professional practice areas including Landlord and Tenant issues, Farm Business Management, Environmental Stewardship Schemes and Planning matters. Kevin is secretary of the Western Counties Agricultural Valuers Association (WCAVA) and an examiner for the Western Counties Examination Group. Kevin is also a panel member of the Agricultural Lands Tribunal (ALT).

David Hosegood

David is a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. He is the third generation of his family in this business, following on behind his grandfather, Stanley, and his father, Jack. He began his professional career with Bruton Knowles in Gloucester, returning to the family business on Exmoor after the 1967/68 Foot and Mouth outbreak. He has been working on Exmoor and the surrounding area ever since.

Julie Bateman

Julie is wife to Kevin, a Director of Bateman Hosegood and runs the accounts department as well as supporting our busy team. When she is not in the office Julie is farming, running around after their daughters or enjoying the countryside. Julie was a Primary School Teacher for 15 years, a Forest School Leader and has been heavily involved in Educational Access on farms.

Claire Sampson

Claire grew up on the family farm in the South Hams. She studied at Seale Hayne and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer whilst working as a Land Agent managing the Devon County Farms Estate. Claire spent 13 years working on the Estate specialising in letting farms, Landlord and Tenant matters and Estate Management. She has also spent time working on the FarmWise Education Initiative helping to connect children with the source of their food. Claire's husband is a beef and sheep farmer and they have two children. Claire also runs the family holiday cottage business with her sister and helps out on the farm when she can.

Emily Roberts

Emily grew up in West Somerset and studied Rural Land Management, graduating with a degree from the Royal Agricultural University in 2019. She started her career working for a firm of Chartered Surveyors in Somerset before joining Bateman Hosegood in August 2023. Emily is a fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) and has most recently passed her exam to become a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Lauren Sanders

Lauren grew up on a family run dairy farm in Mid-Devon. Enjoying the rural lifestyle she then went to Hartpury College studying Agriculture moving onto completing a Rural Land Management Degree at The Royal Agriculture University. Lauren is a full time Graduate Rural Surveyor and hoping to complete her RICS and CAAV exams in the near future.

Lucy Gill

Lucy grew up on Exmoor so brings a wealth of knowledge of the countryside with her and is very much a country girl at heart, enjoying all country pursuits. Lucy is an Apprentice Rural Surveyor who is studying a degree in Rural Estate Management at Harper Adams University. This involves going to university 8-9 weeks of the year, the rest of the time working hard either in the office or on farm. Lucy is very much a social person and when not in the office you will find her enjoying her time with friends and family

Liz Warner

Farm Consultant & Soil Specialist

Liz specialises in providing NVZ & farm nutrient advice, carrying out SFI applications and undergoing soil testing services including an analysis of those results. On the BASIS Environmental Advisors Register and FACTS Qualified, Liz is also able to produce the Nutrient and Soil Management plans as required by the SFI. In addition to the nutrient work, Liz has an interest in Carbon and Natural Capital markets ( including BNG & Nutrient Neutrality), and is also able to carry out Carbon Auditing or Carbon footprinting on your farms. Having moved from Gloucestershire in 2012 to take on a County Council Farm Tenancy with her husband. Their main farm business is egg production, but also includes beef and arable.

Tommy Bateman

Office Dog & Barketing Assistant
Meet Tommy our friendly loveable office dog. Tommy is a PatterJack, a cross between the Patterdale Terrier and the Jack Russell Terrier, who turns 14 years old in August. He is assistant to our Director Julie. Tommy very much enjoys relaxing, getting little work done in the office and occasionally joins us all on our lunchtime walks if the sun is shining.
